Team Breakfast, Friday Fun Night and Meet!!
Hello team!
We have our FIRST team breakfast tomorrow! Thank you to all of your who used our handy-dandy sign up sheet and are supplying the goodies! Team breakfasts are always a fun event! Tomorrow, in addition to all the deliciousness you all are bringing...Karen from A La Carte will be providing pancakes! So come hungry!
Friday we are all set to host our second Friday Fun Night!! This weeks theme is an 'Ice Cream Social'. For 5$ kids get all the ice cream (and a large assortment of toppings) they can eat! We will have music rocking, and just like last week, this is NOT limited to members---kids can bring their friends! There is a 5$ cash charge for them to get in, and the proceeds from both events support our team!! In addition to the ice cream station we will be selling hot dogs and bratwurst so non-members have something more substantial than just ice cream. These will all be pre-cooked---so we won't have issues like last week with the pizza! Also, the club is going to have the snack bar OPEN for food this Friday night, and will also be serving beer and wine. :) A little before 8 we will set up for the meet, and anybody who can help out---it would be GREATLY appreciated!! Rumor has it there MAY be free beer to parent volunteers!!
You may also be aware that the club is having an event at the pool from 8:30-10:30. They will be showing the movie Soul Surfer. I have spoken with Leo, and we ARE going to set up for the meet as planned, at 8pm. The movie will be viewed from the pool, so moving the chairs around will not be a problem. This is a great idea for an event, but the coaches feel pretty strongly that swim team swimmers should leave at 8pm (after set up!) so they can go home and get a good nights rest. Hopefully we can have more movie nights at the pool this summer that our team's families can participate in!! :)
Saturday is a home meet, as you know. Swimmers are expected to be at the pool at 7:45 with our warm ups starting no later than 8am!!! The team we play this week is a LARGE team, so we need to make sure to get the meet kicked off ON TIME!! For my parents, there will be lots of jobs that need to be filled!! Timers, Clerk of Course, Runners all are critical to a successful meet!! DON'T BE SHY!!! Find Tony Bowers (head timer), Kathy or myself to get a position!!!
We are happy to announce that we WILL be doing "Swimmer of the Week" towels again this year! This is an honor given to a boy and girl in each age category--12 and under, and 13 and up. Swimmer of the Week is not necessarily the fastest swimmers, but the kids will be recognized for accomplishments on the team. In addition, we will be offering a green beach towel that says "ECC Barracudas", these will be for sale to our team members. Stay tuned for the details about that!! And a thank you to Beth for organizing and ordering those!!
As always, thank you so much for your support!! A bag of cookies here, and a breakfast casserole there, make the season fun and enjoyable for all---that is why we are a TEAM!!! :) GO BARRACUDAS!!!!

Hello Everyone,
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Ok so I have the following people going to Rebounderz Tomorrow, before I list off the names here are a few things:
1. We are leaving the pool at 10:45AM so be ready after practice to leave because we have to get there early so that we can check in and get all of our equipment!
2. We have a lot of names listed, so I am hoping we can have some parents go to Rebounderz tomorrow so that we can all car pool together. Also parents if you do not want to jump there are plenty of places to watch! (I will be attending so I will have room in my car, and Coach Brad might be attending depending on his work schedule)
3. Please wear socks because they provide jumping shoes for us to wear on the trampolines.
4. They do have a water fountain, but I suggest you bring a water bottle, if not they sell drinks there (it is a great workout and it is tiring and fun).
5. It will be $13 a person and we have to pay in one transaction so please bring cash.
6. Please fill out the waiver (per child) prior to getting there it just makes things easier, below is the link to filling it out online, and I have also attached a copy to this email if you would like to print it.

REBOUNDERZ TRIP THIS WEDNESDAY!
Hello Everyone,
If you have any questions, please let me know.
This Wednesday June 20th, the swim team will be taking a trip to Rebounderz in Sterling. This place is AWESOME!!! I have been multiple times! Rebounderz is a giant warehouse where the floors and walls (yes I said walls) are trampolines. They also have a foam pit and dodgeball matches. I have reserved a time for THIS WEDNESDAY JUNE 20TH at 11:15AM.
With that being said we need at least 10 people in order to get the group rate which is $13 a person for an hour of jumping. Trust me an hour of jumping is really tiring and its a great workout (I was tired after 15 minutes........I probably shouldn't tell people that )!
This event is open to the entire swim team +Friends and its fun for all ages, even parents!
The plan would be to leave after practice on Wednesday and we can just carpool from the pool. I need a final head count of who is planning on attending BY TOMORROW so that I can let Rebounderz know our final number of people (Just respond to this email or let me know at practice). We also have to pay for the entire team in one transaction so please bring CASH!!!
I have attached the waiver to this email or I believe you can do it online below so please fill it out and submit.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Here is the website to check it out: http://rebounderzsterling.com/
Attached is the Rebounderz Waiver, if you wouldn't mind letting parent's know the waiver has to be filled out completely for their child to be able
to participate.

CASA--and impromptu fund raiser!
Casa has become the teams "unofficial" cause, largely because of the Boyd's family commitment to this charity. Every year we sponsor a 'swim-a-thon' to raise money. This year, to kick off the season, Jessed Kirk, on his own accord, wanted to raise money on his own. He came up with the idea to have the coach shave his head if he could make money for this charity! Always wanting to encourage kids to perform good acts, Coach Brad was more than happy to assist!
Jessed raise a whopping 215$ for CASA at our first meet! Thank you to all our generous parents who helped him exceed his goal!! What a great job you did Jessed!
As a side note, we believe if the coaching thing doesn't work out Brad--you have a future as "Barber Brad"
ECC vs MVYC, First Meet, June 16th~
Our first home meet was against Mount Vernon Yacht Club...we were PUMPED UP!
Swimmers were ready! Parent volunteers stepped up! And the meet ran extremely well for our first meet of the season! Thank you to all our parents who stepped up in official roles, and came out to the meet to volunteer for runners, timers and clerk of course!
Our swimmers were READY!
For each and every stroke!
Friendships from last year were re-kindled!
Our Concession Stand was a success---making 117$ for the team! With the profits from that, we hope to sponsor an "Ice Cream Social" on this coming Friday Fun-Night! :) Thanks for all of your generous support!
Swimmers: TAKE YOUR MARK!
Friday Fun Night!! June 15th 2012
Friday Fun Night at the Pool was an overall success! We had a few 'learning experiences' with pizza and getting music up and rolling on time, but overall, everyone had a great time! One thing I LOVE about our swim team, is how all the ages of kids mix so beautifully!
Even when kids move on from swim team, they come back as alumni and play for our group! Face Control rocked the pool deck that night!
Members and non-members came together to play games, eat, listen to the band and have Barracuda style fun the night before the first swim meet!
Parents relaxed, the club was kind enough to provide beer and wine for our swim team parents and guests, and the kids had fun in all ends of the pool!
Teen cannon balled into the deep end, with flips and lots of fun...self-made games and competitions. Parties that become kid-generated are always the BEST!
Every now and then a mischievousness parent would get in on the action!
So, overall, everyone came together---worked hard, and we had a VERY SUCCESSFUL night! We made a few mistakes--but have learned from those, and by the last meet of the year---we should have everything PERFECT! Thanks again everyone!

Hello Team,
We got a jam packed schedule the next couple of days! we have our First Meet Prep Pump up party at 6pm with a one hour practice session for all ages at 5pm. This will be a great time for kids to get in the water and work on starts and turns, we will not be swimming multiple laps it is just more so a tune up before the meet. I highly recommend that the younger and newer swimmers attend to get that extra hour of help.
As for the meet tomorrow morning, please have all swimmers there at 7:45, our warm-ups start at 8am (don't worry, I believe we have coffee down there). We like to have meet themes for swimmers and the theme of this meet is "Evergreen Pride!" We will have a prize for the best dressed so they can feel free to paint their faces and wear their best evergreen colors. This is going to be a blast tomorrow, parents can feel free to show off their evergreen pride as well! Lets be loud, let's be encouraging and let's be great hosts by displaying the best sportsmanship ever to Mount Vernon Yacht Club!
We need parent volunteers to help at the meet, especially TIMERS lots of TIMERS! We also need volunteers for Clerk of Course, the scoring table, and to help as runners. All officials and parent volunteers need to be at the pool no later than 8:20 to prepare for the timer and officials briefings. Please come out and help us open the season with a fun and organized meet!
-Please bring cash or spare change to the meet, we have a special little swimmer starting to raise money early for CASA. If his goal is reached, he will be letting me shave his head on the deck just before the meet. I think that will really get the kids amped up! It all goes to a great cause and every bit counts whether it is a penny or a twenty!
See you all Tonight!

Fun-day Friday!
Tomorrow night we are kicking off our Fun-day Friday, which, if things go well, we hope to continue throughout the season!!
We will kick off the evening with practice for starts and flip turns at 5pm---ALL TEAM PRACTICE! If you are bringing people to the par-tay---we ask that they not interfere with practice and arrive at 6pm (or wait patiently in the snack bar area).
At 6 we will kick into par-tay mode and have food, fun, dancing, swimming, and the band FACE CONTROL! We want everyone to have a GREAT time with friends and family---but we need to keep in mind our meet set up is the end of the night goal! That means close to 8pm we will need 'all hands on deck' to set up for the meet!! We will need to get rid of trash and tidy up bathrooms too! The deck, pool, and bathrooms all need to look their best going into Saturday!! I appreciate all the parents help in pulling this par-tay together---the food, the hands on deck and the great kids you bring to our pool everyday.
So, let's ROCK IT tomorrow night and have fun!!!
See you at the pool.
Christy

Great Job at Time Trails!!!
Hey everybody, you all did a GREAT job at the event last night. I know to our new parents it may have seem a little chaotic, but that is to be expected having that many bodies learning together! The kids looked good in the water, and the parent volunteers did great too! Remember, we will need all you guys who put 'Timers' on your sheets to step up and find the Bowers on Saturday morning!! Many, many thanks to our new families and old who have stepped up to new roles as officials. We need every single one of you!
More on Friday night and Saturday to come!
